Barrie's Culinary Gems: My Top 10 Favourite Restaurants
Taste Buds, Prepare for Takeoff!
Barrie is a beautiful city known for its waterfront, parks, and cultural attractions. It might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of culinary hotspots, but trust me, this hidden gem is a foodie's paradise! I have compiled a list (in no particular order) of my personal top 10 favourite restaurants that you must visit while in Barrie.
- Donaleigh's Irish Public House
28 Dunlop St E. | 705-735-3552 | donaleighs.com
Where the Irish Hospitality Meets Culinary Magic
Kickstarting our list is the authentic Irish pub and heart and soul of Barrie, Donaleigh's. Known for its warm atmosphere and hearty Irish fare, this pub never fails to charm. When you step inside, it just feels like a home away from home. They serve classic pub fare like fish and chips, bangers and mash, and shepherd's pie. They also have an extensive selection of beer, whiskey, and cocktails. Don't miss out on my absolute favourite lobster mac and cheese or share some of the famous nachos with someone (or don’t share, I won’t tell) – it's comfort food at its finest.
- PIE Wood Fired Pizza Joint
11 Victoria St | 705-503-7653 | piewoodpizza.com
Because Who Doesn't Love Pizza with a Wood-Fired Twist?
Prepare your taste buds for a pizza experience like no other at PIE Wood Fired Pizza Joint. If you're craving pizza, this is the perfect place to satisfy your hunger, it’s where the art of pizza-making meets innovation. Located in downtown Barrie, the restaurant's pizzas are made with fresh, local ingredients and cooked in a wood-fired oven. They also offer gluten-free and vegan options. Indulge in their mouthwatering Neapolitan-style pizzas, and be sure to try my top faves: St Lucia (if you are pro-pineapple) and Cluck Norris pie (for the pineapple haters of the world).

Burgers That Define Perfection
For the burger aficionados, Kenzington is the place to be. 2 words: burger bliss! Craft your own masterpiece or savor one of their signature creations. The burger joint's commitment to perfection is evident in every bite. Trust me; you'll never look at a burger the same way again. It is the only spot I go for burgers and beer. They offer a selection of gourmet burgers, each one made with high-quality beef and served with a side of hand-cut fries.
Hawaii Five-O is my go to for here (sorry guys, I am PRO-PINEAPPLE on everything!) but sometimes I do also enjoy the Hot Honey Chicken. It’s so hard to decide that my hubby and I usually order both and “sharesies” them. Be prepared to redefine your burger expectations with a visit to Kenzington.
